Greetings to the wonderful pupils of ASHA International Model School Kano, parents/guardians, staff, governing board and all stakeholders. I am delighted to be part of this great school. The year has been a great year of tremendous achievements in academic, moral values, sports, collaborative activities with the outside world, excursions, etc. Teamwork has been the propelling force behind the general growth and development of the school within a space of six years. Developing the whole child has been our priority. Our dynamic and dual curriculum is a blend of the Nigeria and British curricula with the Montessori system of education designed to stretch, motivate and equip the pupils to learn through enquiries and exploration. This is achievable through the use of ICT, e-library, child centred and activity based learning approaches to meet the educational needs of pupils. Teachers regularly upgrade themselves to handle new challenges in the teaching field towards innovative teaching. Therefore, every child is supported and challenged by our skilled teachers working collaboratively with the learners and making a conscious effort for every child to realise their full potential and to make a sustainable progress in life. Academic excellence is vital but not enough for our pupils to succeed in today’s decadent society. The prime focus of our vision and mission statements is on Academic excellence and character building. Character is said to be the soul of education. John Hays Hammond clearly stated that character is the real foundation of success. We, therefore, strive to prepare our pupils for present and future challenges to make positive contribution to our ever flexible world. We also aim at inculcating our core values in our learners to develop key attributes and skills necessary for them to become more responsible in the society. The pupils are always taught to treat others with honour and dignity which is respect. Discipline creates habit, habits make routines which become who you are daily. Confidence empowers the pupils to clearly voice and act on their areas of concern, create meaningful and desirable change, identify and address their personal needs and ambition. The value of integrity will make learners honest and strong or undivided about what they believe to be right. Our school is a creative and critical thinking that focuses on grooming the pupils to reflective reasoning to find alternative ways around the hurdles. Finally, excellence is the end product of consistency and perseverance. We always encourage our pupils to aspire greatly and to be committed to excellence, anything less becomes an acceptable of mediocrity- anonymous. I am really excited about the next session and with the dedicated passionate staff at ASHA International Model School, I am optimistic next year’s trend will be louder.
